The Asus EeeBook X205TA is with its 1000 gram and a price of 229 €(approximately 16.000, 00 Indian Rupees) definitely the fly weight within the notebooks and has therefore earned a detailed review that highlights the benefits as well as the limitations that come with the purchase of this notebook.
Optical Impression:
The Asus EeeBook X205TA is available in five colours: red, blue, white, black and gold. I have bought mine in gold and I was astonished by the stylish plastic shell as well as the attractive goldish colour which resembles more a light champagne. The keys are in plain black whereas the labels written in white so that the overall visual impression is much more luxurious than expected in that price range. Looking at more details, it is obvious that due to the lower production costs, the materials aren’t as good as at other notebooks as the keys don’t convince with a nice haptic perception. Besides, not every angle is suitable for having a good view on the display so there are limited settings that can work.
Ports:
There are only five ports at the Asus EeeBook X205TA, which are: 1 charger connection, 1 micro HDMI port, 1 headphone jack, 1 memory card slid and 2 USB ports(2.0).
There is no CD-R drive or a LAN-connection so that special adapters are needed. Furthermore, two USB ports aren’t really sufficient to secure and enable a comfortable workflow so that is one of the biggest limitations regarding this notebook.
Performance:
One of the most obvious assets are the great and strong colours provided by the desktop. At a normal working activity level the battery holds 12 hours which is very helpful assuming that this notebook is designed to be primary used during travels where it is most probably that a charging opportunity isn’t given. On contrast, the camera and the speakers are under-average as the camera doesn’t render the colours that nice and the speakers are located under the notebook resulting in a slightly isolated sound. Therefore, I wouldn’t recommend this notebook to users that excessively use Skype or related programs.
As onboard-storage space there are 2 GB DDR3 RAM which is not very much so that a lot of error reports arise due to buffer overflow.
Value-Added Services:
It should be noted that the Asus EeeBook X205TA comes with a very handy Add-on, namely an annual license of Microsoft Office(Windows 8) including Word, PowerPoint, Access and Excel. Therefore, the asset costs for any licenses cease away. Moreover, this notebook provides more than 500 GB storage space in the cloud which is especially regarding the limited disk space an important feature.
Conclusion:
Overall, the the Asus EeeBook X205TA the perfect companion for people that need a second notebook for higher mobility. Instead of using this notebook as the main working space it should be used as notebook that can be staffed in the backpack easily and that can be used on travels. Instead of storing any documents on the notebook I would recommend to back them up at an external hard disk drive as the storage space is so limited.
