Astitva is not a love story. It is a story of love - how love is nurtured. Astitva is Simran's love story. Its abt her love for Abhi. Its abt her ideals & principles. Its abt her fight against all the adversities.

Thats Astitva for u in a nutshell. Basically, it depicts the complexities of relationships. Not only between a boy & a gal, but it throws light on relationships we share with our friends, our parents, our siblings et al. A beautifully carved out story with fantastic characterization & impeccable screenplay makes ''Astitva'' a must-watch serial.

A Quick Dekho At The Story:

Simran, a gynecologist by profession, is a 30-Something living happily and enjoying being quirkyalone. She is running a hospital christened Aastha Nursing Home. She has a happy family comprising of dad, mom, bhua, fufa & her 2 sisters - Kavita & Rashmi. Kavita is married & has been diagnosed with cancer recently. So at present she is away to Switzerland with her hubby enjoying the evanescent days of her life. Rashmi is a widow. Her husband died just after her marriage. She came back to live with her dad & resumed her MBBS studies once again. Over there, she meets professor Pranay - a psychiatrist. Both get along quite well and are secret admirers of each other. Pranay, infact, proposed her once. But the matter has not yet culminated into marriage. They share a warm professor-student relationship.

Simran shares a warm relationship with her two sisters & is always there for them whenever they need her. She is also a very caring & understanding sister. Her mom has died now. Her relationship with her dad is also very interesting. They share a gr8 bond.

Other than her family, Simran has one more person who plays an influential role in her life - Dr. Manas. He is not only her colleague but also a sincere & honest friend. Many a times, their friendship has been misunderstood by others. Mostly, by his wife - Urmila. We'll discuss Urmila afterwards. For now, let me introduce the another most important character in the serial.

Abhimanyu (or just Abhi), a photographer by profession, is a 20 something guy. He fells in love with her in the first meeting. He finds her to be his ideal woman. And they both marry each other even after the objections from both the families. Abhi ditches Simran for Kiran. Kiran is Abhi's assistant-cum-model. And now, Kiran is ditching Abhi for Arun Shouri - a big name in the corporate world. Kiran is impressed with him bcoz of all the expensive gifts he gives her - more recently she has been gifted a Dream House.

Cheating On Partners Is Fashionable.

Adultery is one word which has become more than known in our society. The incumbent movies on adultery - Murder, Hawas, Tum - has made the thing very fashionable. Breaking someone's trust & just not caring abt the love - it is very unfair, unjust & cruel. Only a person going through it can understand the pain. Exactly this happened with Simran when Abhi cheated on her. Wanna produce one dialogue which Simran says to Abhi after their break-up. Here it goes:

''mujhe laga tha ki tum un sabse alag ho jo keechad dekh kar fisal jaate hai..''

Soon after marriage, Abhi did a volte-face. His job profile juxtaposed him with his acolyte Kiran of which he took undue advantage. While Simran was expecting a baby, Abhi was busy with his paramour. Simran's love for Abhi was so strong that she vetoed all the allegations against Abhi. She declared them to be mere rumours. But then, she discovered the bitter truth and was totally devastated. The break-up had scathing effects on Simran's heart & mind. She went through nervous breakdown.

The episodes which dealt with the break-up between the two & the consequent melancholy & despondency of Simran were really impressive.

Doubt Has The Crippling Power:

Urmila has got a suspicious nature. For a woman with ordinary looks, no one ever imagined her to take such a drastic step in life. She always cribbed Manas for his alliance with Simran. But Manas, as per his nature, kept quiet. Things got worse when Urmila decided to leave Manas for Dr. Ashwin. She fell into Ashwin's trap. Ashwin took advantage of her and she ended up being a prostitute for Ashwin's client. In a fit of anger, she murdered Dr. Ashwin. She is now in jail & is absolutely ruined.

When Past Comes Back:

No one knew Simran had a past love affair until recently when Mr. Abhimanyu Joshi ( or Mannu) landed up in the serial from nowhere. He was introduced as Dr. Pranay's patient. When Simran met him, she was reminded of her old college days when they both were in love with each other. She brought him to her home & started looking after him assiduously. She got lambasted by the world but nothing changed her mind. She decided to roll with the punches & with perseverance she shut the mouth of almost all the critics.

That is the story so far.
