I'm in the process of booking travel to Palawan Philippines, using AsiaTravel.com. In fact, I just sent payment information. My understanding is that while Asia Travel offers an array of packages across many countries in Asia, the arrangements/payment are being handled by a satellite/local offices within the country of interest, in my case Manila. For packages in the P.I., there is a toll-free number and I've been able to reach agents. So far, it's been okay. The Manila office has been quick to reply to emails (within a day or two), and there seems to be someone to answer the phones (I call from the U.S.), though I haven't conducted transactions by phone.
I want to travel specifically to El Nido, Palawan, Philippines, and let me tell you that it's not that easy to plan, esp. if you have limited time - unless you are willing to pay for the fancy resorts. The El Nido Airport is privately owned and prioritizes flights for folks booked in the up-scale resorts. I didn't know this with my first inquiries to the "non up-scale resorts."
Like I said, I just sent a payment. AsiaTravel requires me to pay in full, non-refundable, now, in order to secure my room. It's November, and my trip to the Philippines is in mid-January. That being said, you decide about using them. I will definitely be back to send more comments.
