I wrote this exactly because I been seeing their boasting about how customers consider them to western standards on the front page.


First off all, it is very hard get any kind of info out of them. You have to go into their office and talk with them face to face to even get a reply and then it is still not clear what they are trying to say. Dont expect to get an answer by email or phone.


So I upgraded my Plan speed 450 which is 512kb/256kb because my wife was having trouble watching utube videos. So I decided to try Speed 510 which is supposedly 700kb/256kb. I used to have this plan before and I decided to downgrade at the time because once my wife started her studies she did not have time to use it, so I know the speeds of both plans as well as the speeds of the same plan before and what the speeds I am getting now. I got 700kbps for a few hours just after I switched plans and then it went to 600kbps with the upload speeds much lower than the old plan I used to have.


I found out you had to pay an installation and modem activation charge every year on my old plan. Seeing how the higher speed plan cost almost the same but got only 12+2 months on the new plan instead of the 12+3 months on the old plan for the yearly renew option I decided to pay a little more and get a month less and upgrade, I decided to upgrade expecting the speeds I saw before when I used to have this very same plan. Trying to get any info except in tidbits seems like a monstrous effort. It is like they do not want to come out and say something because we might gain some information. Maybe we might hold them to that information later on or something. Asking why I have to pay an installation charge for a decade year old connection to renew for another year gets some well this and well that and well because we can type answer.


I have never communicated with any US ISP in such a manner. I always get a specific and clear answer. If their web page says something, you can count on the accuracy of it. 700kbps means 700kpbs. I still never have received an answer on upload speeds from asianet even after trying for over 5 years. Anyone you get to talk to act innocent and ignorant and anyone who knows anything is always in a meeting and cant be disturbed but they will surely call you back. Let alone replying to email, been waiting 5 years for answers.


Why I have to pay 20% more to get a 10% speed increase is beyond me but remember, slower upload speeds even if higher download speeds. I know arguing for price is common in the markets and even for ISP's they try to get the best price for their own lines. But this business in dealing with customers is usually clear cut and defined. But guess not in gods own country.
