We have constructed a new house, and now its painting time. I have taken enough time to do the req homework about the painting, colors, brands and methods. I would like to share few things out of my experience so tht it will be easy and useful for everyone who is planning to paint their house.
Well every one is talking about Royale, good, but opt for it only when u have done the putty work on the walls else its waste of money and results might not be as you have expected.
Before painting the walls-
1- ensure that the walls are done well with the putty(Asian Putty or JK is preffered) and better go for a double coating.
2- If you want the painting to come well, make sure the walls are well papered after doing the putty work.
3- Remember to put wall primer before and after the putty work is done i.e wall -> primer -> putty 1st coat -> putty 2nd coat -> good papering work -> primer -> paint.
Note: If ur's is a new house and build by a builder/3rd party, he/they may skip the primer/putty 2nd coat. but be there and insist for it as I did with my builder.
Painting process -
1- for best result of paint on putty wall go for Asian Paints Royale, not Premium Emulsion.
2- If your builder is going to purchase the paints for you, than it is always better to go along.
About mixing colors at the paint shop -
We all select the colors looking at the shade card provided by the company. the colors that are mixed in all the sub brands(SKU's) are the same, what changes is the base color. ie base color of the Royale is different from the base color of the Premium Emulsion/Apex/Ace etc.
When we select a shade eg-7747 -lemon grass(which we had done for our hall) they mix few colors into a base color paint in turn giving us this req shade. and your cost is very much depend on the number and quantity of colors goes into it.
