After 15 years of bypass and utmost care when with the advent of 2003 my father aged 65, started facing problems again, our regular heart consultant told us that the life-span of a normal by-pass of 10 years was already well exhausted and that there was no other way out but to continue with the prescribed drugs till the end. At that time my father was taking a total of 22 pills per day and to mention it, he has been operated for stone twice, hernia in the stomach, prostrate, cataract, and total liver damaged in his young days due to intense jaundice apart from a by-pass done at Breach Candy Hospital 15 years back. Totally a non drinker / non smoker profile. Anyway, back to the story - on our insisting, we were put on to one of the cardiologists who performed the angiography and informed us the same thing. BUT-as a last try he recommended the expert opinion of Dr. Shri Ramakant Panda. We got in touch with Dr. Panda's secretary who informed us that he would be available only at Asian Heart Institute. Now staying in South Mumbai and travelling till Bandra- Kurla Complex is a nightmare for a heart patient. But we had no choice. The 1st appointment was also given at 8.30p.m. in the evening which was very surprising and the earliest one could get. We met the Dr. and he suggested surgery within 7 days. We were given the complete break-up of all costs and contigencies if at all. We took on a twin sharing room so as to facilitate the stay of my mother also, as in a twin sharing room one is provided witha bed for the attendant also. At first when we got admitted they did not allow us to take any of our baggage inside but were advised to keep the same in a cabin oppisite the main entrance. Everything for the patient inclusinve of the chappals, shaving kit, tooth brush paste clothes, towels etc. neatly laundered and maintained was provided by the hospital. Even the towel for the attendant was provided for on a daily basis. Neat and clean linen changed daily, well laundered linen provided, full facilities for the attendants, nice and clean canteen, though a bit expensive, well maintained toilets and bathrooms, very clean and hygenic environment, strict rules and very decent and polite staff all together make up Asian Heart Institute. Even the billing procedures are simple, and telephone booths are provided at all the places. The staff as well as the Doctors were very caring and polite, round the clock and punctual treatments, very well equipped. Unlike in other hospitals, we were not made to run around in circles. Proper advice and guidance was given and all the staff were very caring. We had not come to Asian Heart out of our own accord and actually at the start were not too happy because of the long distance from our house, but at the end of it all we have no regrets that we went to Asian heart. The charges also came up very economical compared to other hospitals. If the same standards are maintained, it can be termed as one of the best.
I personally would definitely recommend, God forbid anybody should need a recommendation.
