Malleswaram is one of the old areas of Bangalore and there are landmark food shops in this area. Asha Sweets is a famous sweet shop in Malleswaram, in operation from many years. A few years back Asha Sweets opened Asha Food Camp, it's new restaurant. Asha Food Camp is fast being an important landmark in Malleswaram. It is located on 10th Cross Malleswaram, Temple street and is housed in a two floor building. On the ground floor is a sweet shop, a juice stall, a chaats counter and a darshini style quick eat place, where you can buy what you like, eat in a jiffy and move away.

But for those who want to spend quality time with your familyleisurely over food, you will need to go to their restaurant Parampara located on the first floor. The restaurant is well-designed with well-arranged furniture and attractive decor. An interesting thing in Asha Food camp is the fact that instead of tableclothes they have a colourful paper sheet with sudoko, crossword and other puzzles. While you wait for the food to be served, you can doodle away on these sheets - an innovative idea!

Both North Indian and South Indian food items are available. A thali meal is also available on the menu. But the a-la-carte menu is the main attraction at Asha Food Camp. You can try any of the items on the menu and be rest assured that you will get quality food. The tomato soup served here is one of the best soups I have had, well-made with the right blend of spices. Similarly, all of the North Indian items are recommended - Rotis, Naans and Kulchas are baked perfectly and the side dishes, whether it is paneer kadai, mix veg curry or kaju masala taste excellent. Try out the baby corn manchuri for starters and end with tasty sweet lassi or the famous Gud-bud ice cream (a blend of different ice-cream flavours, dry fruits and jelly served in a tall glass).

The portions served are more than filling. Prices of all items are reasonable and in line with prices in other restaurants eg : soup at Rs.40, Roti at Rs.15, Curries ranging from 30-90. In most restaurants, when you eat North Indian curries, your fingers are stained red, indicating the use of chemicals. No such thing happens here, as is the food is made without colouring agents and prepared under hygienic conditions.

Service is good and fast. The service staff are friendly and go out of their way to accomodate you. There is small party area in the main restaurant (for small parties) and a bigger party hall is also available. The only minus point is the lack of a specific parking place, you have to look for a spot on the road, but since there are a number of side roads, usually parking is not a major problem.

Overall rating is excellent. If you are looking for a restaurant to go out for a meal with family or friends, Asha Food camp is the right place.
