Arsenal, best known for its flowing football and youth development have often been criticised for being anti-english.
No arsenal fan can directly oppose these criticisms as Arsenal has only 2 english players in its 25 member first team squad. Arsenal under Wenger have sold or released most of the english players in the team. But there is a reason Arsenal have sold the majority of our English ‘talent’ and that is because they are largely incapable of playing with the skill
And intelligence that Wenger requires. Arsenal sold David Bentley for 3 million pounds and got further 6 million when he moved to Tottanham, that way he generated a total income of 9 million pounds for the club whereas Wenger brought Van Persie(£2 mill) and Fabregas (free). So it is very economical for a club if they dont keep english players because of their inflated prices and wagebills. Ashley Cole wanted the same salary as Arsenal gave Henry, so Wenger let him leave. thats the way it is at Arsenal.
Actually Arsenal generate a lot of players forthe English game but unfortunately they have not been the top, top quality and the economic climate means Arsenal cannot afford to consistently cherry-pick the best English talent from other clubs. Arsenal's youth system produced Tottenham’s most expensive purchase this summer and that sums up our situation.
