Arsalan has been the heritage of kolkata biryani.It is more of a benchmark for the other brands serving the same cuisine.Ever since I was a kid for me birani meant Arsalaan or Shiraaz and when ever I think of Arsalaan two oulet comes to my mind, the main one located at park circus and the other located at park st, yes there are other small outlets in town as well, one in bek bagan and one in rajarhaat but few around a week back I realized a newly opened outlet which was in fact opened a few months back in JOKA road going towards diamond harbor railway station.
For a family weekend we planned a trip at resort near the banks of River Ganga and it was a 55 km road trip from park st to the destination, in between we wanted to stop for lunch since none of us had breakfast that day.We came across Arsalaan which was comparatively much smaller than the original one so we thought it might be a local version of the legendary restaurant but the moment we parked our car and entered we saw that the place was packed with customers(mainly students of the near by MBA college and school).The place was not really spacious but looked good enough.It was neat and tidy and the AC was working perfectly fine.
The menu was more o less the same consisting of a wide spread of mughlai dishes.All 6 of us opted for chicken/mutton biryani and a plate of haryali kabab and a plate of reshmi kabab.The man was took care of us and our order seemed to be a localitie from the near by area and was really humble and kind with us.The order was placed on our table within 15 minutes and the food smelled ever soo yummy(mainly because all of us were ever soo hungry) .The quantity of the biryani was quite a lot and my mutton piece was good and tender.Every one of us looked the food and even complimented regarding the same to the manger.They took good care of us and did not even charge us for the parking.Over all no doubt this is a place which reminded me a lot like Arsalan, park circus and if I get a chance I would definitely stop by here once again the next time I come to Joka or Diamond harbour
