I was longing to see this movie not because it was a directorial debut of Honey Irani, or it had Preity in the star cast but just for the sole reason that Mr. Big B is there in the movie. I finally got to see Armaan while I was traveling from Bangalore to Mumbai.
The theme itself is rarity- a film about doctors and a medical backdrop- evokes curiosity. Honey has good control over the medium and put in a good series of events. The chemistry between Anil and Gracy seems to really work and the romance between them has been very cutely presented.
Yet again Preity has sidelined all others by her marvelous performance. As she fits in perfectly as an arrogant , spoilt, heady who is very much insecure from within and these insecurities overtakes her own self. Amitabh with another great performance rules the screen, till the time he’s there. He’s done full justice to the role he is into and added value to it.
The script has faultered at a couple of places. The narrative moves predictably towards an end that you’ve figured out by the interval. Its really unbelievable to think that a doctor like Siddharth owner of an established hospital of the region would not be carrying a mobile when he,s a heart patient himself. Was the child for which Amitabh passed away saved?
But the biggest question that is bothering me is why did Mr. Bachchan sign for this movie In a character that is eliminated from the story no sooner that it takes off, Bachchan is sidelined.
What I felt about the film was it’s one of the better made films of 2003 clean and unadulterated which can be enjoyed with your family so just go and enjoy..
