An other exceptional movie. Did I say “Exceptional” – are you asking me why?

  1. Simple effective story line without any unnecessary snag.

  2. Effective screenplay and apt dialogues.

  3. The director for sure did have a clear picture of what he was making.

  4. Cast that fit the roles they were playing.

  5. Excellent performance by all the actors (the story just revolves around 3 of ‘em)

6. And a lot, and a lot of lateral thinking.

Story : It’s a neat Gangsta comedy. Father and Son – Adi Narayanan (Prakash Raj) and Kutti (Arya) are in the sand mining business (with the needed political background – their set of gundas etc) try to reunite with Sathya (Navdeep) who they find out is Adi’s long lost son.

I’ve used the word Gangsta ‘cause the whole team that had made this movie have been clever enough to keep it very close to reality. It’s not ‘I rule the world mafia types’ or ‘underworld don types’ non existing clans in India. Typical local Gundas who also run a prosperous business, their own way with rowdies and fighting their rivals.

Screenplay : The story has been well converted into a screenplay that is fast, simple and keeps the movie going. All the dialogues are well thought of. Talking about the ‘lateral thinking’ part of the screenplay which has been extensively used by the writer, keeps the movie a pleasure to watch and very hilarious. You can see a strong influence of the Madurai – Tirunelveli district slang and ways of life.

The jokes are timely and witty. Comedy also being in the mainstream of the movie without any additional comedians has made the movie hilarious in the second half.

Cast : There’s nothing that I can add to Prakash Rajs performance or his cleverness in choosing his movies. As always he fits the character like a silk glove. He’s again done an excellent job of not overdoing or under doing his character.

Arya has also performed extremely well – this movie is going to be his boost. He plays a hard tempered pugnacious youth. Even when they’re running around trying to convince Sathya to live with them – he doesn’t change to be the goody goody brother. He’s a born ruffian and stays one all through the movie.

Navdeep, for a first timer – he’s good, but couldhave done much better.

Samiksha, (Sathyas crush/love in the movie) did not really have a big part to play and has done her part pretty well.

The others, the rival gang trying to take over the control of sand mines, the assistant commissioner trying to get Adi and Kutti behind bars, Sathyas Grandad who has kept him away from Adi all this time and last but not least Krishna (five star Krishna) at whose place Sathya stays when he comes to Chennai from Nagercoil is a feather in the cap for the movie.

Director : Vishnu Vardhan, has given a good presentation. There are very less grey spots which get ignored easily. I really appreciate the fact that he has given at most importance to character performance. He gets a five on five for this movie.

To sum it all up – it’s a well directed first-rate entertainer. Music scored by Yuvan adds charm and choreography gives it light.

It’s worth all the money you’d pay watching it.
