When I was in 2nd yr pursuing B.Tech in Civil Engineering, I purchased the Arihant Gate Tutor through Amazon for my GATE preparations.
Initially, looking at it's cost price, it seemed a bit costly.but having the "Arihant" tag with it, I decided to buy it.And yes, this book covers all the syllabus quite well.
For all of you who are interested in buying this one, the topics include:
Solved papers for 2014, 13, 12.
3 well prepared practice tests.
General Aptitude section, which covers Verbal Ability, Critical reasoning & Numerical ability in detail.
Engineering Mathematics(perfect for GATE study).
Civil Engineering subjects, which include all the various topics that are asked in the Gate exam.
At the end of every subject, you have all the questions and their solved answers which are being asked in the previous 10-12 yrs papers, along with expected ones.
The best feature of this book is it's comprehensive way of presenting the format of the syllabus.Different topics are covered within suitable lengths as a part of the whole syllabus, and questions along with practice set is been provided related to them.
The solutions are very well explained, without any worries.The syllabus is covered keeping in mind only for the Gate exam, not IES.
At some points, I came across printing mistakes, which I had to tally with my notes or book stuff.The paper quality is good.It's a bulky book with around 1200 pages in total.
Also, you get a CD, which again has 5 practice tests, which helps to prepare as for online exam format.
I found this book a complete guide for GATE exam.As for now upcoming exams, newer editions are available, with improved syllabus details along with recent solved papers.Students, don't hesitate for this one.This is probably the best in market for GATE exam.
