Overall Benefits:

You will need some background to why my teeth are sensitive. When I was a teenager I drank pop from a bottle and caught a disease called 'trench mouth'. It was cured but my tell always hurt. I take very good of my teeth and gums but that doesn't help to keep them from being sensitive.

I always used Aquafresh toothpaste so I was delighted when they came out with their Sensitive Toothpaste. It is Oral-B Toothpaste that was developed for sensitive teeth and cavity protection. I use their triple protective gel that has a refreshing mint flavor.

From the box the ingredients are '5% Potasium Nitrate with Sodium and 0.024% Floride including secret medical ingredients'. It also gives me protection from bacteria that causes Gingivitis for 12 hours.

HOW I BRUSH MY TEETH:

I use an electric toothbrush, (but the method is the same no matter what type of brush you use). I cover the head with the toothpaste. The first thing I do is brush my tongue on top and under it, (my Dentist told me there are more germs around your tongue than any place else in your mouth).

Then I brush the sides of my teeth, my back teeth and then my front teeth. I brush each area for at least one minute. When I brush my teeth I brush my gums as well. If your gums aren't healthy they will not be able to support your teeth and they will begin to fall our. Look in a mirror and see if your gums are pink. If they are you’re doing fine with your dental health.

BRUSHING IS NOT THE ONLY THING YOU MUST DO TO HAVE HEALTHY TEETH:

I use floss at least once a day, twice if I'm a 'good girl'.

I use a 'stimular' between my teeth twice a day. This gets the blood moving through your gums. This tool has a long handle and a rubber head.

I use a 'proxama brush' every morning. When you first see this tool you won't want to use it because the head's base is a wire, (that scares most people), with small bristles coming out from it. My Dentist had to convince me the wire wouldn't bother my gums.

The final thing I do is gargle. It is very important for you to find a mouth wash that has no alcohol. I could only find one, (Oral-B and it is made in Canada).

IF YOU HAVE CHILDREN:

If you have Children they will not know how to brush their teeth properly unless you show them. You should brush their teeth from the time their first baby tooth comes out. Buy a cute toothbrush and make brushing fun. When they can brush their teeth alone let them see how you brush yours. Fluoride only helps to slow down tooth decay. Decay can start as soon as the gum breaks, (even before the tooth is visible).

SOME THOUGHTS:

If I am eating out I still like to brush my teeth after a meal. I carry a baby toothbrush in my purse, (my Dentist said baby toothbrush help get into places that adult size don't), and a travel tube, (small tube), of Colgate Sensodyne Toothpaste. I am to old to be embarrassed to go into a public bathroom and brush my teeth.

If I have a meal that I bought from a street vendor I chew a piece of gum, (except in Singapore because there I would be arrested).

You don't have to be an elderly person to have sore teeth.

If your teeth are not healthy your body won't be healthy either.

I pay $4.00 CAD for a 6.2 oz, (175g), plastic tube that has a child proof screw off top. In England it costs £1.85 and in the U.S.A. is $2.47.
