Apsara Ice Cream Parlor If it's ice cream..then this is it! Tucked in the jain community is a 25 year old ice cream and jain food haven-Apsara. A family run restaurant very famous im Mumbai for its hand made ice cream and jain food. I was quite impressed by the array of varieties of ice creams offered at Apsara. The ones to try are- The Gulkand ice cream-actual gulkand cooked with milk to finally get ice cream is worth a try. The Variali Ice cream-As we are aware that variali is generally consumed as a mouth freshner and digestive post meals, the ice cream can too be consumed in a similar way.
Actual variali+pista lending a light green tone to the ice cream. Absolutely out of the world. Besides this try the pan masala ice cream-Actual panleaves are used to make this ice cream, givingyou a true taste of eating pan. This season being that of the King of all Fruits-Mango, try the am ras or the fresh mango ice cream. However the drink that stole my heart was the 'Thandai'. A refreser of dry fruits and white pepper which lends a slightly spicy taste to the drink is brilliant! A must recommendation! A recent addition in Apsara is the Ferror Rocher hazelnut icecream. Definetly a high calorie one but worth a try if your a fan of ferror rocher chocolates. However very surprising the ice cream which has had a loyalty of 20 years is the almond and orange ice cream.
Strange, but true! As mentioned earlier, Apsara also specializes in Jain food, I havent tried the cuisine here...but yes ask any gujarati and you will leave them praising.
Finally remember walk up the walkeshwar sea side slope and ask anyone for Apsara. Try each one of the specialties recommended above and you will be happy to discover this place! As gujaratis say...avjo (see you soon!)
