Questions about studying abroad...

Hey, I'm new on this site, and since studying abroad is the topic right here, I was wondering if anyone could help me out. I am a US citizen, but my dad is in the military, and right now, we are living in Okinawa, Japan. I'm going to be a junior in two months, and I am really interested in the possibility of studying abroad...but no one seems to know how to help me out.

Do you guys have any suggestions? I mean, how would I go about applying for scholarships, etc...? My counselor doesn't seem to want to help me out. I have no clue how to do anything in this area, and I think that college abroad would be a great experience.

Just going to high school in Japan, I have met so many people that I would have never met at a school elsewhere. I am learning Japanese, and I am surrounded by a completely different culture. I love it. I think it would be great to be able to continue that type of experience, and to learn about other cultures. It has always been something that has been very interesting to me...but here, the problem is that I am surrounded by the military, and that sort of takes away from the experience for me...but other than that, I love the idea of going to school overseas, and I would like to continue that after I get my high school diploma.

If anyone can help me figure all this out, that would great!
