>Disclaimer:  This is not a technical review.  To those who are looking for technical details… I sincerely advise them to read other reviews on MouthShut, on Ipod.  And, to those members who never heed my advice… all I can say is… please indulge yourselves… of course, at your own risk.*

I love my Ipod in more ways than one.  I, and my Ipod… we have a lot in common.  I love solitude   My Ipod gives me enjoyable company without exactly robbing me of my solitude.

I am a gadget freak and love tiny hi-tech gizmos that I like to play with, my Ipod is just that… a tiny thingamajig that fits snugly into my palm.

I always believed, “beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder.”  But, my Ipod has converted me with its own brand of philosophy, and I now believe’ beauty lies in the palm of the holder…’ that is, if one is holding an Ipod.

I am a great listener, my Ipod pours lovely crystal clear sounds into my ears… and if I listened to 10 different songs each day, it would take me a whole year to listen to 3650 songs and my Ipod can hold close to 20, 000 songs.  You guessed it right; it would take more than 5 years to listen to all the songs.

It is said, “Life begins at forty.”    But, I can vouch for it based on my experience that life begins, for you, the day you bring home an Ipod.  I love to see and appreciate the beautiful colours in life, my Ipod brings to life all the myriad colours and vivid images before my very eyes… 25, 000 breathtaking images, if you really want to keep tabs.

When I am down in the dumps (or left high and dry), I try to cheer myself by listening to some great jokes by Raju Shrivastav.  This guy has great expression and his themes are original.  I am trying to get hold of many more of his excellent stuff as well as some of “Pehchaan Kaun’ fame, Naveen Prabhakar.  When I can store approximately 100 hours of video, then I can choose to have a lot of comedians performing on the tiny stage that is my Ipod, of course, at my beck and call.

I love things that are neat and organized, because, I am certainly not… my Ipod is great at organizing my data, pictures, contacts, songs, videos, and other fun stuff.

Tiny, confined, and restricted areas have a claustrophobic effect on me…  My Ipod manages a whopping 80GB of real estate memory in a tiny 4.1” X 2.4” area contributing to the feeling that I live in a virtual land of vast open spaces.

Clarity of expression is a virtue that I admire most in a person… my Ipod has convinced me that clarity of expression can, also, be found in inanimate objects.  All I have to do is simply plug-in the ear buds… one end into my Ipod and the other, you know where.

Quality of construction is an issue I am obsessed with… holding my Ipod in my hands gives me a feeling of security and relief where sturdiness and durability are concerned.  It also feels quiet solid and heavy in my hands… heavy enough to break someone’s skull with it if that someone dared to disturb my reverie.

My Ipod, sometimes, lulls me to sleep with its soft lullabies.  Sometimes, it rudely wakes me up from deep slumber with a jarring and squeaky Himesh Reshamiyya number… only to make me drowsy again with Kunal Ganjawala’s soporific rendition, but not before my daily dose of Kishore Kumar, Rafi, Talat, Manna Da, and Mukesh.

Did I tell you, my Ipod is like a tortoise… hard on its back, slippery, and almost repulsive… and delicate on the utility side, with so much to offer?  The exposed underbelly of my Ipod is so sensitive… it changes colours faster than a chameleon every time I 'touch' it.

Talking of touch… I love to caress my Ipod, especially the abdominal area, and press the tacky belly button.  Every time I do, it responds passionately like a ‘hot chic’ that is very much in love with me.  It even rewards me with my most favourite songs and videos.  It never tires of my touch, and neither do I get bored of touching its erogenous zones.

My Ipod and I, between us, we have developed a lasting relationship that is based purely on understanding, and the age old philosophy of ‘give and take.’  I need to ‘give in' to its desire for power as also its hunger for little feather touch caresses every now and then, and in return it takes care of my wants.  It’s, also, very accommodating and understanding because when I am not in a position to satisfy its very few needs, it can still go on for 20 hours without sulking (unlike my wife who is forever demanding without giving a thought to the other half of our agreement).  But, if I insist that it should also satisfy my urge for moving images, then it gets tired after dutifully engaging me for a little over 6 hours.  But it doesn’t mean that it won’t satisfy me further… all I need to do is look for the nearest power socket.

Most of the erogenous zones on my Ipod are located in and around its belly button, there’s an ‘orifice’ located further down for receiving inputs or whatever garbage I wish to put in, and another little knob right at the top for restoring some semblance of sanity.

My Ipod doesn’t take much space and is always easy to carry, even in a shirt pocket, to wherever I go… and I don’t mean the ‘loo.’  Come to think of it, it doesn’t seem such a bad idea after all… the rest; I leave it to your fevered imagination.

If you were ever in need of a practical definition of ‘Genius’ and ‘Simplicity’, then, this is it… my Apple Ipod 80GB Video with a black façade is a shining (not just the back) example of the adage “there lies great genius in simplicity.”

Talking about simplicity… I’ll use just three simple words to convey to you what I couldn’t do in twenty paragraphs… go get it!
