I am the usual super obsessed, self confessed gadget freak and to know a bit more about it, you can read my original review about the iPhone 3G dated 2008 November!

How did I / Apple progress? Let's see!
As you can see from the original review, I was ecstatic and over the top with the original purchase. However the poor battery of the iPhone 3G coughed and drained the power like a drug addict and Apple wanted me to pay a bomb for a battery replacement so I mustered some courage, ordered a non-genuine replacement battery kit and put my Electronics Degree to good use(finally)!
Well the operation was succesful and the patient(iPhone 3G) recovered from the addiction to Power. Little did I know, that my success is short termed:( Less than 3 months, the addiction for Power came back and this time with vengeance! Not knowing what to do, especially since it was my first time to spend so much money on a phone, I consulted the experts(others like me). The advise was to let it go and move on to the newer iPhone 4 and the shiny gadget did tempt my obsession. I yielded to that temptation and now hear I am writing a review for iPhone 6/S.
Spoiler Alert: If you are looking for a detailed functionality of the iPhone, please look elsewhere. I will do my general ramble hoping that it would be more fun to read!
Coming back to the non-review, in short, iPhone 6S is the best iPhone Apple has produced.(It is like me saying, that my current height is the tallest I have ever been) There is no doubt about it. It has got better Camera than the previous version, some Force Touch gimmick etc etc. Just in case you are wondering, I reached here to iPhone 6S via iPhone 3G -> iPhone 4 -> iPhone 4S -> iPhone 5S. And all these 5 phones are bought at a premium price which Apple demands all the time.
If you are able to sense it already(or may be title is the giveaway), I am not too happy with the purchase. It is not that I am unhappy but not as excited as I was with my first iPhone 3G. Now is the time for some introspection about why the similar amount of money spending in 2008 made me super excited and why in 2016 it feels like stale beer - I decided to write a non-review to vent it out.
There are several factors.
First is the competition. Back in the days, there was nothing even remote to compare to iPhone. It was all flashy brand new world. It is not so anymore. I bought my Mom a Lenovo K3 Note and my sister a Lenovo K4 Note with VR and given that they cost about 1/5th of iPhone, I wonder how relevant is the premium price of iPhone these days. I am not saying that Lenovo matches iPhone. At the cost of sounding overboard, Lenovo beats iPhone with its removable battery, expandable storage, Dual SIMs and Dolby Atmos Sound(And VR if it rocks your boat. I liked the VR experience). The User Interface or OS layer on Lenovo is super usable and again very frankly if not more but as equally good as iPhone.
Second is Innovation(Or lack of it). Innovation is progressively diminishing, which I am sure happens if the company is strapped for cash but Apple is sitting on about 216 Billion USD of cash reserve and if it can not innovate and excite then only reason I see is, it does not want to do it.
Third is iOS. This used to be the trump card. As always, Apple ties its Software and Hardware be it Mac or iPhone or iPad and gives a great experience which makes you a believer. However with every iteration, iOS is getting bloated with so many things and most of them are barely a new feature but definitely resource hoggers. This only means that my old iPhone 4S has become completely irrelevant and my iPhone 5S might face the same fate if I upgrade to iOS 9(if not sooner then later). Also, let us not address the elephant in the room - planned obsolescence of slightly oldish iPhones through the resource hungry iOS updates.
Fourth is Apple Music. Actually there was no fourth until a week back. But the other day I hit the gym with iPhone in my pocket and when I turned the Music App all I can see is a picture of a lady with headphones and none of my music. Swallowed the bitter pill with my Adam's Apple and restarted the App, iPhone and even Treadmill but nothing helped and so ran a while with limping limbs and at a pace to the tempo set by the kind DJ / Gym Cleaner on Gym Speakers. After coming home, I realised that I turned the mobile data off on my iPhone and for some strange reason, Apple decided to sell me Apple Music and there is an extreme small link below that lady with headphones to select MyMusic but the link never loaded since I was not connected to Internet. Just because I did not care Apple Music. Ab Kya Bache Ki Jaan Loge?!
Some friends of us got together the other day and one of them says with Glittering eyes "Enough of Android, Now I want to experience Apple's iOS!" If it was 2012 I would have happily encouraged him but it is 2016. Still, I had no heart to turn off the glow and Apple is still not that bad. So, I told him "Ja Simran ja.jee le apni zindagi":) And as far as I am concerned, this might be my last iPhone. Stay Tuned to see how the plot unfolds!
