so, does anybody know the reason why this is so?
Despite the high price tag though, it seems to have little effect on Apple’s sales. In fact, CEO Tim Cook recently said that sales of iPhones in India saw a massive 93 percent year-on-year growth in the third quarter of this year. This is much higher than countries like China, Hong Kong and Taiwan, and Cook expressed his surprise saying, “These numbers are unbelievable and they’re done in an environment where it’s not the best of conditions.”
With its recent marketing campaigns, Apple has managed to give its brand more visibility, and the introduction of EMI schemes and partnerships with carriers has made it easier for one to buy an iPhone. It is clearly the choice for people looking for some exclusivity(read status symbol), premium-ness, timely updates and a relatively secure platform.
