I have been an ardent fan of iDevices and have always dreamt of buying them since the time they have been launched. Very specifically, dreamt of buying an iPhone since the first version was launched in 2007. My dream was fulfilled in buying iPhone4 last year.

Everything was fine till it was iOS 5. All hell broke loose once I upgraded to iOS 6 and I now feel that I made a mistake of buying it and if feels like a piece of high-cost junk. No, I am not talking about the maps fiasco. There are several problems with this version of the OS apart from the maps issue which is anyway global:

  1. One SMS from a particular number is always unread in my inbox! I tried everything possible to get rid of it, but it is always present! Tried deleting the messages from this sender. Restoring to factory software didn't help either.

  2. iOS 6 made my phone terribly slow. For e.g., Showing the number after clicking on a contact takes a lot of time for the person's contact number to appear. Given the nature of my work, it is very tough to manage with this kind of slowness.

  3. The email client suddenly empties my inbox and downloads all the emails all over again! This is unncessarily has increased the phone bill to 3-4 times due to multiple re-downloads. Some times this happens 3 times a day and at the minimum once in a week.

  4. At times, the phone doesn't connect to my WiFi but continues to use the 3G cellular connection thereby increasing my data bill!

I had written this as online complaint on Apple website couple of weeks ago. But none has bothered to address this till now.

I went to the Imagine store in Bangalore Mantri Mall last Monday. Avinash did remote diagnostics and conveyed that both software and hardware didn't have any problem but I need to leave the device with them for one day observation. My question was if there was no issue found in software and hardware after the observation and the problem not solved yet, what is the way out? He confirmed that in that situation they will discuss with Apple. I couldn't handover the device on that day as I hadn't taken backup of the device.

After taking the backup, I went to them today and handed over the phone for observation. The same person today says that they will do everything possible to fix the problem. But if they aren't able to fix the problem, then they will find provide me a device free of cost. Suddenly he goes upstairs and comes back stating that I need to buy a new phone. I found this to be ridiculous! Why do I need to pay money for no mistake of mine? I am facing this problem due to the useless OS version. They also don't have a possibility to revert the software to iOS 5. Looks like this is new way of making money.

He further asked whether I wish to speak to his Supervisor for which I said yes. He came back saying that he is "too busy" to meet me.

He further said that I need to talk to Apple in case the issue is not solved. I am astonished that his version changed to opposite in 5 days.

Keeping my fingers crossed on what would happen now!

Shelling out 40K INR, I thought I bought a device which I can use for long. This appears to be almost impossible. I regret for having bought an iPhone.

I have now come to an opinion that Apple brand is not trustworthy anymore. Why should anyone spend so much money when there are other devices with advance specs and much cheaper than Apple devices?
