The Bottom Line - Buy an Imac for ease of use - but then go get a uniriser.

I am a proud Imac owner (333 mhz, grape). Before you consider owning this fabulous machine you NEED to know that you could be setting yourself up for some back and neck issues.

Last summer I started my graduate degree in music education. My first class was an internet based class (no meetings, all web) which took up most of my summer. After about two weeks of heavy computer usage I was noticing that my upper back and neck were sore.

One of the VERY FEW drawbacks of the Imac is that it is a one piece unit, which is not a bad thing in and of itself, but it can be difficult to look down at it for long periods of time.

At COMP-USA, our local mac-friendly computer store, I discovered a product called the uni-riser for Imac. It is a stand with four legs that lifts your imac off of the table about 4 or 5 inches. This is what I needed!!!!

It comes in ''ice'' - the color of the front of the imacs and has a nice shelf underneath for storage (or I guess if you wanted to you could slide your keyboard in there). I use it for my floppy drive (which rarely gets used) and for paper that I plan to recycle through the printer.

The cost is $29.99. I bet the cost of a back and neck injury would be considerably higher.....

I highly recommend this product if you are in a situation where you need to work on you imac for long stretches of time - it sure has saved me a great deal of pain!
