Browse Browse Browse.. we cant get enough of it.. its the same old process..
Then why do we need 'N number of browsers? Well everyone wants a change.. Why stick to one, if we have a dozen.. so expecting something New, I ventured out with the Apple Safari..
As with All other Apple products, this one too is a sexy piece of art.. amazing look & feel, the first thing you'll notice in any of Apple products..
Some of the classy features -
- Top sites, probably borrowed from some of the other browsers like Opera, this one is a Default page that shows you the top sites that you have recently visited, and it keeps on updating as and when you browse the net.. Its a surprisingly efficient feature, where you can configure your pages as per your requirements, and the options are pretty effective too! You can add or remove a site, you can change the format to small, medium large, make a site permanent etc to name a few.
- Default Bookmarks, this one is the first with so many commonly used pages already bookmarked on the Bookmarks menu, like YouTube, Wikipedia, Yahoo, GOOgle Maps etc..
- A Default GOOgle toolbar, sadly no Bing for the anti-GOOgler's :) Unlike the other browsers, this is an auto generating search, which gives suggestions as and when you type. There is a Fundu"Snapback"option, that lets you back to the last searched results.
- Private Browsing, which is just a way for you to be working safely on some of the secure sites like Bank sites, trading sites etc. (This is almost available in all browsers)
- An effective User interface, eg, the Bookmarks menu is marvelously done. Where you can scroll through all the bookmarks.
An auto search option for easy browsing of the history pages or bookmarks which was far more effective than manually going through the sites, which is almost similar to the new Firefox or IE 8, but has a better look and feel and easier to use.
- Auto suggesting url bar, is pretty effective.
- Easy, light and fast download. Pretty easy to use too. The usual stuff like 'Form Autocomplete' etc are clearly explained in the Help section.
Some things that are missing -
-In the normal browsers, if you type on the browser, it searches in a default search engine and gives you an output, which wasnt there. Though the google toolbar does it for us, but still I would always forget to switch tabs! :)
-On the first page, there is no double click for opening a new tab initially. The only option is a Ctrl+t or clicking on the Right Menu for a New tab.For enabling, you need to manually set it to Show tab bar in the General Safari settings.
- Unlike IE8, no Developer toolbar or additional tools are included.
After a fruitful experience, I must admit, it has most of what you need, and uses the same set of rules that we are so used to plus some new and improved features. So, if you want a refreshing change from the same old boring Explorers and Navigators. This one is worth trying.. And it works on Windows too, Amazing! :P
