Hi people out there! After a long time I found time to post one revu! lets jump into it directly.
After a long time of searching and talkin to lotsa ppl, I decided to buy this 15' power book. Based on the 1.25 Gh G4 this laptop was an hot shot. The machine was put into several tough tests and it perfomed marvelously! It all started when I decided to mobilise my music projects and replace my desktops with laptops. It was not easy for me to do it coz I didn't have enough trust and confidence to go for this, but I'm very happy with my brave decision.
I bought it in singapore for 97,000 INR which was quite a deal. With just around 1'' thickness it came with a superdrive which can burn DVD and CD with 256 mb DDR ram (which I later upgraded with another 512) The keypad was white backlit and the titanium finish of the laptop was not only good looking but very strong! the 40Gb harddisk was quite good with 7200 rpm. Overall the spec was cool!
The machine performed flawlessly right from the beginning with great performance. Added to it was a firewire based sound card(yes it has both firewire 400 & 800 with 2 Usb 2.0) and a usb based soundcard with some usb input devices. The machine was almost as good as my G4 and it also gave me the edge of mobility.
Now the down side.... Nothing in this world is 100% But these little problems is not as bad as u think. The fan in the laptop is quite hearable which made certain recordin process a bit difficult (I don't think any other casual user will find this a flaw) Eventhough with this big fan the laptop is on the hot side which may burn ur lap say after 4 hours of continuous usage. But I heard most laptops are aas hot as this one (I don't have an idea guys!)
Overall this machine was a worth a buy! It out performed all the P4 sony vio and Toshiba which certain ppl uses in my studio. Graphics was great with 32 mb ATI Raideon and with full usage (with superdrive workin continuos) it last for 2.45 hrs which is quite good. With import duty totally wiped off for the laptops, and the p4 based are selling it for much higher prices, don't look back go and buy this slim beauty!
