After contemplating between all the possible notebooks in the world I narrowed down on the Mac book pro 13 Inch and I can tell you that I have no complaints at all.
Allow me to describe the needs I considered before the purchase
I wanted a notebook that was good with handling media since I am a photographer and also do some video editing.
I wanted something that will help my Parents to use once in a while to browse the internet and chat and type documents etc.
Something that would help me manage my music well.
I wanted something really fast and reliable.
After nearly going for a high end dell laptop I decided against it and went for the Mac for the X factor that the brand carried. They have not let me down overall.
Some of the great things about the Mac Book Pro
Mine is a aluminum unibody and its really thin and light.
Its speed is awesome, the OS X that runs in it just flies be it image editing or video editing.
The built in software like iPhoto and iMovie are great for beginners.
The usability is very good that my mom and dad too can use it without any diffifulty . having said that they are very tech savvy people.
One fine day Ants got into my Macbook pro and to my surprise nothing hapened, they came out slowly as I used the machine and the machine is fit as a fiddle now!
Some of the things that I am not very amused about:
Software for this is really expensive.
Apple has upgraded the software to the Snow leopard but not given it free for people who just bought macs before the release of snow leopard.
There is slight overheating problem.
the file system that Mac's use on USB drives is not NTFS (as in windows file systems) and this requires some unnecessary plug in's to make it compatible making ur life more complex, not Apple's fault but something that we have to live with.
You cannot use ur Mac on a regular projector as Mac's output is different and u need additional adapters.
Apart from these if you can afford it its one of the best notebooks for personal use.
Ideal for people who are dealing with heavy media usage - editing photos / videos etc. if u are using it for browsing and regular stuff it is a criminal waste of money.
Hope this helps, do write to me if you have any other questions.
