I had reviewed the previous generation MacBook(2007 model) on this site. When that product became old, I decided to buy another Mac, this time, a MacBook Pro because of its brilliant LED backlit display and also because of the power under the hood. And talking about power, this is a mean machine. 2.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 6MB of L3 Cache, 4GB RAM(Perfect for running Snow Leopard in 64-bit mode), dual graphics cards(Nvidia GeForce 9400M and 9600M GT), built in 7 hour battery and not to miss out the 1440x900p resolution 15.4" 16:10 widescreen display. I decided to buy the 15 inch version since I thought 13 inch was a bit too small for working on.

After buying, I was pleasantly surprised. Of course, I had seen these in Apple Stores all around and the MacBook Pro is a really elegant laptop. Full aluminum. There is no sign of any other material except for the glass on the display and the trackpad. Apple calls this a'unibody' design where the entire laptop chassis has been carved out of a single block of aluminum. The 7 hour battery is built in and is only accessible by removing the screws on the underside of the notebook. As with all Mac laptops, the display lid is latched with a built in magnet and the power adapter is a'trip-fall' safe MagSafe adapter. And, as with all Mac laptops, the I/O is intelligently located on the right side to avoid clutter. Built quality was top notch as it is with all Apple products. The display opened up smoothly without any sound or typically'rough' feeling you get to see on most'PCs'.

The next best thing to talk about is the trackpad. Apple has built in the first ever glass trackpad on this laptop. And the big deal is that the trackpad has no physical buttons. Instead, the trackpad IS the button. You can click anywhere. The trackpad is also extremely huge and spacious for doing multi-touch gestures on them. Some examples are pinch, swipe, four finger swipe etc. And to sum it all up, Apple has built in a very beautiful high resolution 15" display into this device. It is LED backlit which gives better colors and virtually no warm up time. Adding this to to the long line of features and little thoughtful additions and also Mac OS X Snow Leopard(which is way better than Windows), the new Unibody MacBook Pro is a steal.
