I use the new 2016 MacBook for business

I use the new 2016 MacBook for business, and a 3-year-old 15" Retina MacBook Pro(discreet graphics) for my personal use, which includes high-resolution photography and gaming.

I bought the new MacBook because the 15" is far more laptop than I need when on the road, and because on the road or at my desk the most demanding task I have for a computer is email through two Exchange accounts(one in Apple Mail and the other in Outlook).

The MacBook is much slower than the 3-year-old pro in just about everything, but not enough to really interfere. A few seconds here and there, not enough to matter. On the road, however, I no longer dread bringing my laptop or have to make do with just my iPad. In fact, this computer may make the iPad(Air2) irrelevant.

Overall, I'm quite happy with it. At my desk I have the Apple AV dongle permanently connected to the USB-C charge cable and adapter, HDMI to a 24" monitor and the USB-A port open for whatever I need to connect. On the road, its just a spare USB-C adapter and that's it. No real inconvenience at all, but a whole lot smaller and lighter.

As for using the new MacBook untethered, its a revelation. The screen is gorgeous, perhaps better(though much smaller) than my 15", and I really like the feel of the keyboard. The speakers are also a real surprise, again perhaps even better than the 15", or at least as good.

Overall, I'm very happy with this computer, and look at much as I looked at my 12" PowerBook back in 2003 after moving down from the original 15" Titanium PowerBook of a few years earlier.
