I had got a 30 gb video ipod recently..
the music experience in a Ipod is worth all its money.With this video Ipod has got lots of multimedia functions that allows you to store photos from your digicam,and yes you can watch movies on its brilliant screen and amazing sound effect.
the only downside about watching movie is tha you need to convert your movies in mp4 format before loading that to your ipod.
s/w for conversion are available freely on net but it takes hell lot of time to convert a movie in a mp4 format.but with its huge capacity you can juggle between movies on its playlist as if they were songs on your playlist.best suited for travellin..
Since we all are so used to windows OS , using a MAC product is little pain at the begining , (YES,it does run on your Windows PC)it takes time to understand how things work though and how to interface everything and load data .but you eventually learn.there is hardly any help manual provided which can help you,u learn by trial n errorr.
opening the itunes s/w for data tranfer eats all your RAM of your PC and hangs the whole operation of PC quite often,but with 30 gb storage at a go who needs to tranfer everytime..
One more cool thing you can cooly use ur Ipod as a 30 gb mobile Hard disk-USB Drive
In the standard package they dont provide charger along with the Ipod , you are supposed to use the Laptop/computer USB port to charge your ipod using data cable(provided),So when at travelling u run out of battery u need to look for computer to charge or buy apple charger for arnd 1200 bucks..
Battery support is average.
One very stupid thing about Ipod is that it doesnot have a reset or power button,its starting and shuuting down are completely software supported .neither can u remove the batteries to restart the system in case of ur Ipod gets Hang!
so when ur ipod hangs wait for the batter to get drain(for 10-12 hrs) then it gets off, recharge it and then start again.why cant they put a power button or a reset button somewhere.
