Hi Friends, this is my first ever review of any product, so bear with me if I make a mistake:).

I did quite a lot of research before getting my hands on ipod 80gb classic. Bought it on 11 Jan 2008 for 12000(INR). Two contenders were on my mind, (1) Apple ipod 80gb Classic and(2) Creative Vision M 30gb.

Although vision M packs quite a punch but ipod wins the race with a slight margin.

i'll compare features of both the mp3 players sequentially -

1.Navigation and controls: I found it difficult to navigate onvision M(Note: i've used both vision M and ipod before buyin coz my frnds have them). while scrolling I accidently played the song quite a lot times and it was a bit annoying. buttons are a bit hard. on the other hand, navigating through the songs in ipod is a breeze. It's click wheel is very effective and u can scroll to desired song with so much ease. buttons are not hard as they are on creative.

Result: Apple wins this department easily.

2. Size Matters:although the size of both the players are same but vision M bulky. Clearly, ipod wins due to its sleekness. it fits one's pocket easily. music on-the-go

Result: ipod wins

3. File Format Support:Formats that ipod supports-

Audio:AAC(16 to 320 Kbps), Protected AAC(from iTunes Store), MP3(16 to

320 Kbps), MP3 VBR, Audible(formats 2, 3 and 4), Apple Lossless, WAV,

AIFFUser-configurable maximum volume limit

*       Video: mp4, mov

Vision M supports-

Audio:** MP3, WMA(inc MS PD DRM), WAV

   Video:mpeg, mpg, avi, Divx

Result:** Vision M wins

4. Audio: **Bundled earphones with ipod outputs a very clean and crisp sound, but I felt bass is slightly on the lower side(but you can opt for Bass boost in EQ option to get it all). Overall bundled earphones are quite good. you can experiment with different EQ settings.

Result: **Draw

5. Video:ipod boasts a 2.5 inch screen and watching a movie on this crystal clear screen is a pleasure. It produces rich and bright colors which is no doubt I found better than on Vision M.

Result: ipod wins

6. Battery Life:Apple has improved the battery life in 80gb and 160gb versions which is way better than its earlier cousin(30gb)

Music Playback Time: upto 30 hrs(when fully charged)

Video Playback Time: upto 5 hrs(when fully charged)

(vision M has upto 14 hrs for audio and upto 4hrs for video)

    Result: ipod wins

7. Extra Features:some of the extra features in ipod 80 gb classic includes Clock, Calender, Alarm, Contacts, Games(they are really fun to play. good graphics), notes, Screen lock, Stopwatch, EQ presets, Audiobooks, Volume Limiter, Data Storage(found it quite useful), song search feature.

Overall Result:Apple ipod 80gb has a lot of of good features and is clearly a better choice than

vision M.

Although creative has broader range of video formats that it can play, but that not really a problem coz  you can find video in mp4 formats from tha internet quite easily. and also one can easily convert           videos for  ipod. Tool that I use is "Super Convertor". you can find it on
