A seemingly small thing(but holds stuff too big to handle!); I like it best in it’s beautiful pink coating; and it keeps growing on me everyday… Request you to kindly clear up your mind of all the misconceptions before you read about my iPod Shuffle! Naughty naughty…

So it all happened when my best friend Kamalika announced that she intended on getting me a special gift on her first return to India. Here was my chance to give vent to my ugly side! Dreamy as I was about Digicams and Handycams a thunderous voice(in the form of my Mom said) “Beta, have some sense! She’s just thriving on her stipends.(And you aren’t any millionaire either…)”. Shattered were my dreams but friendship(as they say is the only unsinkable ship in the world!) proved it’s mettle in shining over me in the form of my Best Friend yet again. She insisted on getting me something real stylish and the least she could agree upon was the Second Generation iPod Shuffle! As you can guess I didn’t argue over my “NO” more than twice…

So there it was, wrapped up in a unique white case with the inscription “For my Bestestest Friend” on it… I could feel my smile widening. Oh, what a friend! Then, out came the shining metallic pink mini machine! And it was love at fist sight! It’s a week and a half old to me but its sheer excellence has made me too haughty to not write a few good words about it! To hell with the big things! I like small!(No pun intended(and I mean it!)!)

*Tujhe Dekha To Yeh Jana Sanam…

Chhota Bachcha Janke Na Koyi Aankh Dikhana Re… Its beauty perhaps lies in its size and weight! It doesn’t add but a few grams(15.5 grams) to your existence and it doesn’t take but(1.07 in x 1.62 in) area of your clothing to perch itself comfortably on! Well mine’s with my name engraved on it too(Apple was giving some ispecial offer on the occasion of Father’s Day). Oh, I must confess – my Friend’s an Angel!(I know you are reading madam….). It can conventionally hold up to **240 songs each at 128 kbps(the kid has a holding capacity of 1 GB). The stuff has buttons for Play/Pause, Rev, FFwd and Volume+/- on the front side and it’s equipped with the clip on the rear. Also there are two tiny-mini switches available – one for on/off and the other for shuffle/no-shuffle on the side wall. The other side wall holds the socket.

*Yeh Undar ki Baat Hai…(Thanks to Wiki and apple.com)

On January 30, 2007 Apple announced the addition of four new colors to the iPod shuffle line. In addition to the original silver, a pink, orange, green and blue color has been made available via the Apple Store(online). Of the colors the blue, green, and pink are essentially the same hues as the second generation minis and nanos. The new orange color is a first for the iPod franchise. They also now come with the new redesigned headphones that were not included with the original silver model. The box was also changed to have gray text instead of the lime-green text, lime-green showing that the original headphones are included, and gray text showing that the new headphones are included

Maine* Jisko Chaha Mil Gaya…

*Yep, all I needed was music, music and more music. And I dare say that I ain’t happy! Coz I am more than that. It’s simply AWESOME! The little thing is as perfect as all other Apple stuff are. Great quality sound, appropriate play/replay/forward/reverse options and most important of all with extreme trendy looks! The weight being almost nothing, it’s a delight to carry it around; its size being mighty small, it’s fashionable as well as easy to let it cling on to any part of your clothing!(Though I am getting tempted enough to use it as a clip-on in the form of a chic ear-stud too! LOL!) …

*Jaan Me Dum…

As for the accessories, the iPod Shuffle comes with an excellent quality Earphones set and a Docket. The Shuffle battery can be charged either by connecting to an **iPod USB Power Adapter or to a high power USB port(2.0) on a computer/laptop using the Docket. The first time iPod shuffle is connected to a computer, the iPod Setup Assistant helps in configuring iPod Shuffle and syncing it with the iTunes(7.2 or later)(iTunes is the freely downloadable software used to sync music, audiobooks, and podcasts(radio-style audio shows) with iPod shuffle. When iPod shuffle is connected to a computer, iTunes opens automatically) library.

iPod shuffle can be used by importing songs, audiobooks, and podcasts to a computer and then loading them onto the cutie pie. The options provided are:

  1. Getting music from CD collection, hard disk, or the iTunes Store(part of iTunes and available in some countries only) into the iTunes application on a computer

  2. Organizing music and other audio into playlists

  3. Loading songs, audiobooks, and podcasts onto iPod shuffle

  4. Listening to music or other audio on the go

At a go, the battery once fully charged can provide feed enough to ensure more music per hour for about 12 hours at a stretch(That’s performance man!)!

*Dimag Ki Batti Jalao…

iPod shuffle has two **status lights(which can flash as green, orange or red!) on the two side walls, which indicate whether a button is pressed, the state of the battery, that iPod shuffle is enabled as a disk, or if there’s something wrong etc.

*Chal Gaa Re Mere Sang…

*iTunes offers a variety of tools to warm up the options of filling up the iPod, list-making, song info-editing, setting volume limit for iPod etc. Overall, iTunes sets the ground for ear-pleasing music to be with you as per your wishes!

Overall, despite a few conscious lacking(like I know I can’t watch clips or choose a song after consulting the available list), iPod Shuffle is a show-stealer! Looks, weight, features, a perfectly tuned figure and all the music are in place! I couldn’t have asked for more! My Best Friend – I accept! You simply are the BEST…(Expecting a Handycam next time;)

How bout a new catchline? "Hey. Me's got a Shuffle up my sleeves!":)
