I have been diagnosed for ureteric stone & went to Apollo Gleneagles Kolkata for treatment. After doing IVP, my stone location & size has been confirmed & I have been suggested for Ureteroscopy by a Dr. there in Apollo.
He was quite polite to me & informed that success rate of this procedure is 99.9 % . Yes, its true in medical science that no procedure has got success rate of 100%. Unfortunately I was within that 0.1%.
Pre & post operative procedures, systems, doctors & nurse’s behavior were quite good. Unfortunately, about 3mm of 9mm stone went upwards during procedure & entered into the kidney.
Next day X-ray has been done & I have been told by Doctor that the same can be treated by Lithotripsy. Then, we came to know that facility was not there in Apollo Gleneagles. Doctor told that the same might be available in Apollo clinic. But, we could found that its not there also.
Then, we were searching for hospitals who performs Lithotripsy. It was quite frustrating condition for a patient who is partially treated & looking for another mode of treatment.Doctors should always update himself / herself about facilities of the hospital with which he / she is attached.
