I was aware of The Cradle through my friends, their response about Cradle was good. The information I had was they follow the system that are similar to the one used in abroad, they allow the husband to be with the wife during the delivery.
We planned for our second kid and decided to have the delivery at the Cradle. My wife delivered our first kid at Coimbatore and she had a horrible experience during her first delivery, hence she doesn't want to get the similar experience for the second.
We consulted Dr. Jyothsna Madan, who is really good, caring and didn't treat my wife as a patient. She was like a good friend to me and my wife and always cared about the health of my wife and the baby during the 40 weeks and even after the Delivery.
Last week my wife got admitted in the hospital. Though we tried for normal delivery, finally we had to go for C-Section as we felt that it is going to be critical if we delay any further. It turned out to be a very good and wise decision as the placenta was around the neck of the baby. Since I was with my wife at the Operation theatre, the Dr showed me the same and also the weight of the baby was more than the average.
Hospital Infrastructure: I would rate the infrastructure as one of the best in India. The LDRs, Operation Theatre, Room, etc, . all are really good and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. It was home like environment and I never felt that we are in the Hospital. There is no medicine smell or any other typical hospital environment. They have imported bed for the patient and the nurse bell, etc, were really good.
Medical Care: Again, I would rate this as one of the best. Apart from the Gynaecologist, so may other Doctors keep visiting as per the scheudle (Paediatrician, dietetion, physioteraphist, etc, .) during your stay. The nurses were qualified and well trained. At least couple senior nurses will be in shift any point of time with many others (junior to middle experienced) helping them.
Staff Attitude: The attitude of the staff was really good. Starting from the security guarding the gate, till the Doctors, they treat you like their own guest. We have really impressed with the knowledge the nurses have and the explanation they give when they do any test. The entire team is really good and I am sure the Management must have put in lot of effort. I have even seen the supervisor training the housing keeping people on cleaning the floor.
Others: They take care of serving food to the patient and the quality of food was good. The caferetia is at the terrace and attenders as well as guests can have food there by paying nominal amount. The person who was in charge of admission and getting the Insurance approval was great. She did everything within minutes and provided frequent updates. The front desk (reception) people, pharmacy, lab technetion all are doing brilliant job.
They do have a 4D scan facility where the baby's image can be recorded in a DVD. I did that and my Baby looks similar to the one I saw on the scan. Please ask for 4D and get it recorded. These are good memories and I am sure when your kid is grown up, she/he would like to know how she/he was in Mom's Uteres. It costs extra, but it is worth spending.
Cost: It definitely costs more than other places. But it is worth spending because of all the points I had highlighted. Since it is one time experience, there is nothing wrong in spending another 10 to 15K extra. Now a day, I hear that even other hospital charge a huge amount. In Coimbatore, my relative spent 35K for a C-Section. In Bangalore, it will be 50K in any hospital. So, I didn't find anything really extra here when you compare the facilities and the care.
Overall Experience: We really enjoyed our stay at The Cradle. We never felt that we were in a Hospital. It was like being in a luxury hotel with good medical treatment. If you are an working professional, you will definitely have medical insurance at least upto 50K. You can go for it.
