We had our baby at Cradle (Jayanagar) a few weeks ago and our experience was mixed. While the doctors were fine, competent and responsive, the same unfortunately cannot be said of the other departments at the hospital. A few of the issues we encountered are listed below:
A thousand rupees were stolen from one of the bags we had left in the room allocated to us, while my wife was in the OT. The zipper on the bag was broken and the money stolen.
New born baby's measurements were incorrectly recorded. The error was so obvious that we were able to spot it visually.
Nursing staff seemed to be busy chatting amongst themselves, rather than responding to the new mother's requests for assistance with nursing etc. They weren't even sure which formula milk they were feeding the baby (when the baby needed extra feeding) and gave contradictory replies as to which brand they were using.
Error in billing with incorrect information relayed between the lab, nurses and the billing department. I had to go back and forth between the nurses and the billing department a few times before they finally acknowledged that they had overcharged us.
However, since the final billing was done before all of this was confirmed, they refused to re-issue the bill and refund the extra money which had been charged. Net result: further loss of money on the day of checkout in addition to the amount stolen on Day 1.
Advice to would-be parents: Give this place a miss and find yourself another hospital/maternity unit for your baby's birth.
