This is to share our experiences with a restaurant that does well in most areas and would have remained one of our favorites had it not been for the insensitive attitude of the management. As we reside in Bhandup, the restaurants in the area are not that hygenic and the one that is - Shera is quite expensive. Hence, we order from Shera which is in Mulund but within reachable distance. Ambience - On the couple of occassions when we dined [and wined] the service was excellent. The waiters were quite attentive and the preparations were well timed.
There are seperate areas for those who wish to indulge in spirits and an airconditioned area for the rest. There are also tables outside for those who wish to have a small snack or prefer the outside air. The guard posted outside assists with parking. Food - One of the best places we have eaten at. The food is excellent and the variety is quite good.though not entirely dhaba style. The choice of cocktails leaves a lot to be desired and could do with some improvization considering the clientele they cater to.
I would not however recommend the fish dishes as they tend to be stale.probably coz the catch is not fresh considering not many people might be ordering seafood. Delivery - Now this is where we have our grouch. While at the restaurant, they do treat you with dignity, the same cannot be said of home delivery. When we order, we usually do a couple of dishes together which are packed into plastic boxes and jammed so tightly into a small plastic bag that inevitably one of them leaks. If it happens to be a non-veg dish that leaks, the dishes for the veggies carry that aroma and then my vegetarian spouse declines to have the food. On the day when riots were happening in Mumbai and all outlets were closed or at half shutters, we had to order food. And the dishes received were so stale, it was barely edible.
The not so expensive'fruit salad" was a small plastic container of diced pineapples in dried custard with a single cherry. I have seen roadside vendors who do better with fruit salad and this was not what we expected. Since it was my birthday and also quite late and guests were in the house, we dropped the topic. When we called up the next day, one of the'Captains' answered and apologized stating that due to the riots the kitchen was closed and hence the food quality. He promised to repeat the order if we were to call in the evening. But in the evening call to the Manager, we were rudely told that it was impossible that their food was bad. Despite explaining that we were one of their regular customers and we were aware of the good food which was the reason this exception shocked us, he refused to listen.
Bottom line is that no matter how good your restaurant and its food, insensitive and arrogant staff will ensure that the regular customers stop coming. We have decided never to order from there ever again.
