I use yahoo messenger, msn, paltalk and aol messenger regularly. I must say that aol is the worst of the above four. Yahoo has a very nice chatroom for almost every region. Yahoo also allows us video chat (webcam). Msn is fast and ideal for transferring of large files at a short time. Msn has also excellent chatrooms. The good thing about yahoo and msn is that everyone I know have it. Paltalk is not so popular but it offers great service as far as voice chat is concerned. The chatrooms (or groups) are often very useful for us. Specially those of us who are interested to practice english language Paltalk groups are often ideal and resourceful.
Unfortunately aol messenger (AIM) have none of the above facilities:
(a) Aol often does not get connected or takes a long time.
(b) I could not never go to chat rooms directly from aol.
(c) Aol dont have video chat facilities.
(d) AOl chatrooms are not ideal for South Asians. I guess the owner of this website does not care for south asia. Secondly you cannot find a lot of people from subcontinent in its chat rooms.
(e) File transfer is often a big problem.
(f) voice chat facilities does not always work so good as it makes a lot of echoes.
Lastly aol is not so widely used by people in the subcontinent. So, if you are thinking of only using aol to communicate with others just totally forget the idea.
