Great expectations can be damaging for a movie. hopefully its not the case with anniyan.
STORY:
anniyan starts beautifully. thankfully, no great build-up for introducing vikram. the chracter of ambi a.k.a ''rules'' ramanujam is well described in the opening scenes. he struggles to save the law from the careless public but in vain. he also loves nandhini(sada) but he fails badly in that too. so, a remo raises out of ambi to woo sada and an anniyan to punish the law breakers. this is the crux of the story of anniyan.
PROS:
DIALOGUES is the strong part of anniyan. sujatha reigns supreme. he has done a splendid job in all scenes. the climax scene in the indoor stadium, the train sequence, and vivek asking ambi ''kamal sir idukku kupuda mudiyuma''. these are few examples.
VIKRAM:
vikram as ambi is simply superb. he has given an amazing performance. he resembles kamal as ''remo''. he doesnt have much to do as ''anniyan''. he deserves great applause in the climax scene with prakash raj. in the end vikram is mixed with all the 3 characters after two years . his looks are stunning in these last 5 minutes of the movie. vikram is at his best
SCREENPLAY:
SHANKAR'S SCREENPLAY is decent. he should be greeted for the minimal violence n the movie. the screenplay is smooth and is not boring at any point. no suspense is maintained in revealing that remo and anniyan are non other than ambi.
MUSIC:
harris jeyaraj has done a good job. all the songs are good. andangkakka, kannum kannum, kumari are very good. the songs are well picturised expect the kadhal yanai song. the BGM is decent.
CONS:
technically the film is not great. it doesnt live up to the expectations in this aspect. the editing is average. the cameramen have done a ok job. for a big budget film like anniyan it could have been made better technically. the post production work is not up to the mark.
the stunt sequences are laughable. though they are well shot, no logic is maintained.
some five to six crores are wasted in this movie. a budget of 26.38 crores is not justified. it looks like a 15 crore movie.
VERDICT:
ANNIYAN is a movie with a great social message. it is a must see . it can be called as ''a very good family entertainer''
