Story:

Animal Farm is a Classic political satire focusing Stalinist Russia .The plot is set in an Animal Farm and Farm animals play the characters. It is a fairy tale novel that expresses the power hunger of human and the peril of communism.

“ Absolute power corrupts absolutely”

What happens when miserable animals made conscious of their rights rebelled and communists Pigs took charge of their lives? In Animal Farm, by George Orwell, this is well narrated and George Orwell has tried to show, how the corrupt power of communism; Dictatorship having one absolute ruler who will do whatever it takes to keep his power intact, for this using brute force, propaganda or even emotional oppression is no harm. The author uses an allegorical style of writing in the novel.

Do they achieve Paradise of progress, justice, and equality based on Animalism? Dream of Egalitarian society achieved? Lets read…

The characters of this book masterfully depict all the major players of Soviet Russia:

Owner of Manor Farm MR. Jones *Czar Nicholas II,

Old Major * Karl Marx

Snowball*Trotsky

Napoleon* Stalin

Squealer * Propaganda

Boxer and Clover The Proletariat

PLOT:

The plot of the Animal farm is set up around the Manor Farm run by MR. Jones and how with the Prophecy and strange dream of Old Major (white boar) comes true when these mistreated and exploited animals led a Rebellion and capture Manor Farm which renamed as Animal Farm.

Message: Rebellion!!

The seeds for Revolution has been sowed when the oldest boar on the farm call a meeting to share with all fellow-animals his strange dream and told them that it is possible to live a happy life without human-beings who are responsible for their miserable lives. Get rid of man, and the produce of our labour would be our own.

Afterwards Old Major died and the task of educating and preparing minds for future rebellion that is going to take place soon fell upon the two intelligent pigs named Snowball and Napoleon. Another pig named Squealer a vivacious speaker with them organized the preaching of old Major to what came to be known as Animalism and later reduced to Seven commandments.

Whatever goes upon two legs is an Enemy!!

One fateful day, the neglected and miserable animals led rebellion and expelled Mr. Jones out of Manor farm. Now Manor farm was theirs!! From now onwards Manor farm to be known as Animal farm.

At first everything goes well, everyone is equal, and the produce is divided equally.

But soon they realized that to meet their both ends meet they have to work…. but intelligent Pigs were not supposed to work they were supervisory leaders. Snowball made Animal Committees for specific purposes and there was reading and writing classes for animals also.

But gradually, the pigs begin to emerge as Leaders rather than Comrades. Things get worse every year, until finally a shocking realization is made.

Napoleon and Snowball were never in agreement with each other proposals and thoughts. Soon some dramatic events occurred in the book. First there was the Battle of Cowshed in which recapture of Animal Farm by human beings were foiled by the Courageous Animals.

Then there was the expulsion of a Snowball because he has made grandiose plans for the Modernization of Animal Farm.

Most strikingly phenomenon there was the amalgamation of the human instincts into pig. The leaders soon become despotic rulers.

At the time of his émigré, Snowball had made plans to build a windmill that would supply electricity to the farm and shorten the working days of the animals. The neighborhood farms like-Foxwood Farm of Mr. Pinkington and Pinch field Farm of Mr. Frederick frightened what has happened to Animal Farm tried to suppress waves of Rebellion across their farms. Napoleon comes into trading terms through a human link Mr.Whymper.

Years Passed and with this progressive speed many such incidents happens which ultimately marked the Despotic Rule of Napoleon. He carried a whip in his trotter.

And from now onwards, all animals are equal have to be treated as all animals are equal but some animals are more equal than others.

Dictatorship of Comrade Napoleon

Well expressed through a Poem composed by Minimus (a pig)

“Friend of Fatherless! Fountain of Happiness!”

Soon a deputation of neighboring farmers had been invited to make a tour of Inspection. Admiringly they expressed enthusiasm over governance and raised Toast of Reunion of humans and pigs.

I would sum up with the incident from the final chapter with the blending of animal into human. “Twelve voices were shouting in anger, and they were all alike. No question, now, what had happened to the faces of the Pigs? The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which.” That incident was the ultimate allegory for the book to the Soviet Union. In conclusion, this book did a fair dealing portraying the struggles in the Soviet Union.

This book is simple in language and is reader friendly as the characters are well developed, as is the plot and the subplots. In addition to this inherent message is extremely well written one.

ECHO

Soon or late the day is coming,

Tyrant man shall be o’erthrown,

And the fruitful fields of England

Shall be trod by beasts alone.

Beasts of England, Beasts of Ireland,

Beasts of every land and clime,

Hearken well and spread my tidings

Of the golden future time.

Do you felt the reverberation??
