I am a Goan and on my last trip to Goa my husband and myself wanted to get a good Tattoo done. We went to Anjuna Beach to Andy's Tattoo parlour since we heard a lot about him from a few friends who strongly recmnd him based on his experience. Now let me tell you one thing first Mr. Andy says he's been in the business for the last 24 years but mind you he is around 35 years old so does that mean that he started tattooing ppl at the age of 9?? Nevertheless.....
This place is very difficult to find since it is located in the very shady and infamous Anjuna beach. But we were determined to go. I found out from some of my relatives and cousins who live around Anjuna and they strongly expressed their discomfort and were absolutely against us both going here. On inquiring they told me that he is a drug supplier and all his claims of being very sterile and hygiene with his instruments are not indeed true and he's apparently had a lot of tiffs and fights with the local villagers who've be protesting against his nonsense and just a day before he had a fight with the local villagers who beat him up so badly that he broke his leg. I thought they were over reacting and decided to just ignore them. I still went to meet him to get my tattoo done.
After hours of searching I finally reached there it was around 7:00 pm and it was getting a little dark. There were around 5 foreigners sitting there having beer and some drinks and little baby was playing just outside his verandah. I asked them if this was Andy's and they said yes I peeped through the window coz I could hear some kind of music. I was shocked to see Andy SNORTING COKE. They then called him out and he came limping on crutches. I was stunned coz I remembered what my cousins had said regarding the bashing that he got and his leg was indeed plastered. When he saw me and my husband he began speaking to us very rudely. I politely asked him to have a look at his instruments and asked him if he used new needles he said NO he didnt he just sterilized the old ones. By now I was trembling and wanted to run out. I had one of his instruments in my hand which fell on his carpet since my hands had almost turned numb. He got so mad becz his instrument fell and by that time I wanted to run like crazy he began screaming at me. I started to cry. He was like you idiot like you All you INDIANS are sooo inquisitive people. You broke my needle. Now you have to pay me 900 rupees which is equivalent to GBP 12. When I refused to pay coz I didnt see anything break and his instrument fell on his carpet he said that he and his friends will beat us up if we dont and they'll turn us from (hear this) BROWN To BLUE !!! I was so shocked that he was making these racist comments but I wanted to run out of there. I told him that if he touches me i'll call the locals and started speaking in Konkani. My husband ran and started the bike and I hopped on. We zoomed never to ever return.
I was so mortally scared and decided never to ever get myself a tattoo. I went to the police station the next day and lodged an NC against him for making racist statements. That had the audacity to make racist comments in my own country. Where's Raj Thackery... ??? I've hence decided to write this review about Andy so that however famous he is, people get to know the real side of him and dont waste their time either.
When I returned to office and told my colleagues this story some of them infact said that on accompanying another colleague on her Tattoo trip they did indeed think that Andy was extremely rude but since they were just accompanying my other colleague they just paid a deaf ear to him. My humble request to you is to please do not go to this Tattoo parlour until and unless you want to be racially abused, mentally scarred and physically sick (since you'll definitely get AIDS looking at his hygiene facilities. Please dont go here to save your life. There are a lot of other well known tattoo parlours that give you good service and a fantastic approach. Go to them instead.
