Hi Friends, It's a long time since I have written and posted a review. After posting the review of Dil Ka Rishta on January 20, 2003 I was just frustrated with the quality of movies which were being released. All these months I had exiled myself from mouthshut and was waiting for a movie which is worth reviewing.
Result: Four months have passed and I have not posted a single review, as not a single movie was worth reviewing. Finally now I had to give up my exile as I think our producers have made up their mind not to come out with any good movie. So friends, I am back with the review of a lifeless, lousy, boring, horrible, sick, ....... movie ANDAAZ. Now before coming to the story let me tell you something about the crew of Andaaz. Andaaz is produced by Suneel Darshan ( I do not understand what made him produce such a movie), in the title they show Story & Direction Raj Kanwar (I could not find any story throughout the movie and Direction oh it was just mis-direction), Lyrics by Sameer, Music by Nadeem Shravan, Cinematography by Ishwar Bidri (only plus point of this movie) and Actionless Action by Abbas Ali Moghul. Now coming to the cast Akshay Kumar as Raj, Lara Dutta as Kajal, Priyanka Chopra as Jiya and Aman Verma as Karan Singhania. Story of Andaaz goes like this Raj and Kajal are childhood friends and Kajal as a child shows her interest in getting married to a person who can fly a plane. To win her hand our hero joins Indian Air Force and learns to fly (it is pretty difficult and hard to imagine Akshay as a college student). On completion of the course he comes back only to learn that his love is in love with a very rich man named Karan Singhania who owns a fleet of planes and helicopters and wants to get married to him - true jab gaadi wala milta ho to driver se kyon shaadi kaare, right ? Our hero hiding all his tears dances and sings during her wedding and then vanishes away. When Kajal comes hunting for Raj she comes to know from Raj's Bhabhi that Raj was in love with her and he had a desire to marry her, now Kajal weeeeeeeeeeps and walks away. To forget his lost love Raj leaves India and goes to South Africa as he gets an opportunity to go to South Africa for some training.
In South Africa he comes across Jiya who falls for Raj and tries to win his heart. She comes to meet Raj but learns that Raj has already left for India. In search of Raj she too comes to India and takes up paying guest accommodation at Raj's place and wins the love and affection of Raj's brother and bhabhi. Raj returns back and on seeing Jiya in his own house he gets frustrated and tries to throw her out but he has to bow down to his bhabhi and decides to marry her. He goes to Jiya's house only to discover that Jiya is none other than the sister-in-law of Kajal. Kajal has lost her husband in a copter crash and in a imbalance state of mind she has on numerous occasion tried to commit suicide. Raj takes up the challenge of bringing her to normalcy and in couple of minutes he brings her back to her normalcy. Once again love starts developing between Raj and Kajal. Now whether Raj marries Kajal or Jiya is really unknown as I did not have the patience of sitting in the theatre to watch the end of this stupid movie, hopefully he would have married Kajal only.
As Kajal was his childhood love and generally in Hindi movies it is only childhood love that wins. As far as performance goes Akshay has nothing great to perform. Priyanka and Lara have tried to compete each other, ..... not in acting but in exposing themselves. In a nutshell for a viewer this movie can be termed as ''KEEP SAFE DISTANCE'' NOTE I have given two rating for this movie one is for the exposing done by Lara Dutta and the other is for the exposing done by Priyanka Chopra.
