Khaled Hossinni is one of my favorites. His words create such beautiful, poignant & real visuals which leave you mesmerized. I like him coz his writing is like' truth is stranger than fiction'. There will be no sci-fi, no mythology, no weapons, no larger than life creature in his works, yet it will leave you spellbound. The way he builds characters, their conditions, intricate details is like you r reading a dream.
This book started with signature Khaled Hossinni style, I was mesmerized in first 150 or so pages but than the author lost its grip. I agree with most of the reviews here that this book can not be rated as high as his previous other works. There are too many stories, some connected, some unconnected, there was no need for 2-3 of them. It was not a cohesive plot - it's like looking at an unfinished building which needed a better architecture and more polished painting
