After reading his bestseller, The Kite Runner, I was waiting for my next Khaled Hosseini read. Flipping through the pages of many masterpieces by some of the bestselling authors around, I zeroed in on this one. I must say, the very introduction of the characters make you visualize a lot. That’s the prowess of a great author who has mastered his literary work. Unlike many other reads of mine, this one interests and excites you at the same time, from the very beginning.
As they say, the pen is mightier than the sword. The author has come up with a real artistic way of defining the backdrop and hence the story seems so real that you end up empathizing with the characters, to the extent that you might even have tears down your cheeks by the time you’re done. Well, that happened to me. However, for those who are into mysteries and suspense, there might not be much to take back, in spite of the fact that the story opens in a mysterious way.
Overall, if you love to read fiction or reality-based plots, this has to be one of your picks.
