ABP claims to be a progressive n'paper publishing Tasleema's books. But they themselves use sexist and biased language. Pity to women and downtrodden people are their trademark that lacks respect and equality. Just the other day, I saw a picture of Baba Ali Akbar Khan in Kolkata walking with his wife Mary Johnson. But she did not deserve to be mentioned by her name but her designation as ''wife.'' History telles us only slaves were grouped by their duties that did not require to be called by their individual name.
Recently, ABP praised Mr. Rao to beat the ration-card corruption in the WB area. The writer took a pity on the ''old man'' who was 60 years old. The compliments of Rao's good work were masked by a biased attitude towards age: look at the old man, he is so old but he is doing good work. First of all, being 60 is not being dead. How does the age affect the good work a person does? I cannot imagine the Post or NYTimes using this kind of sexist and biased language and getting away with it. ABP is not progressive: they are just as unthoughtful and backward like the rest.
ABP's words do not match their action.
