It's a 5 star book which is harsh and real which portrays magic, myth, loyalty, betrayal, freedom, family and friends. It is an epic fantasy where a soldier is fighting for his freedom and an orphan for her family. I find it marvelous where importance is given to all the characters and not just two main characters. It is a story based on military and every moment of it is loved by me. But there is one thing which is disliked by me in An Ember in the Ashes and that is the brutality. The palaces shown are not pretty and attractive.
