I happened to go there long time ago. One of my friend's father was admitted for a heart surgery. The equipments are state-of-the-art but if you are a paying from your pocket its expensive(unless you are considered to be poor enough that they give it to you for free), charges are quite high. Also we did'nt get the option to choose our doctor like we have in many hospitals in Cochin.
They assign you to a panel of docs about whose expertise we am not certain(I believe in G-d being the deciding factor of survival but being treated like a lab rat by a medical team is something I don't recommend with a persons life dear to you), since we are paying for the treatment we have the right to chose our docs) , also patients relatives have to take a separate lodging provided by them as they don't allow people to stay with patient(which is ridiculous sometimes as you are cut away from patient).
I have heard both positive and negative outcomes of treatment which is natural so there is nothing specific that I would like to comment about the treatment quality. They are very particular about the blood used during surgery and did not allow us to take blood from IMA banks , instead they insisted on blood used from their blood banks and demanded replacement, hence if you are no localite you could end up in a bit of trouble finding donors.
They do charitable treatment if they find you are poor after checking your whereabouts and verification(I dont know details of this since we were paying form pocket). I would suggest something better, take a insurance card and go to some other good hospital like Medical trust or Lourdes hospital in Cochin and you wouldn't repent this much or if you are really looking for charitable treatment go to Sai Baba Hospital in Bangalore thats far better than this. Also there is too much "Om Namashivaya" greetings especially if you call them on phone...Is that a Hindu conversion camp of some kind ??
