Amores Perros (English translation : Love's a Bitch) is one of those movies which leaves you in a state of confusion.

You ask yourself whether the movie had some deep profound meaning that you missed.

Then you realised that this movie is different from the other drivel that you have been conditioned to see and that is probably whats making you uncomfortable.

Soon the feeling goes away but not until you have written a review and confused other's also :--)

The movie consists of three stories set in Mexico city,

Octavio is obsessed with his sister in law, who is suffering abuse at the hands of her husband.

He then discovers that his pet dog, Cofi is a mean SOB (literally & figuratively) and makes money betting on dog fights which Cofi wins faster than you can say Muhammad Ali. He plans to make enough and flee with sis in law when fate takes a turn

Daniel leaves his wife and kids for model Valeria and hopes to settle down with her and her dog Richie for a happy life.

El Chivo, an ex guerilla is planning a murder in the city and spends his spare time taking care of his motely crew of street dogs.

All these three stories are brought together when Octavio crashes his car into Valeria's at an intersection with Chivo waiting to cross.

To reveal anything more about the story would be to reveal all.

All three stories show how important dogs are to people (I guess) or were the dogs only used as a metaphor, I don't know.

I wish I could write more on this movie, but it's one of those movies that's hard to describe or classify.

See it if you'd like to see something different, and maybe you'll feel different that what I felt or you will end up feeling the same way.
