American Express is hassling me! Threatening me!

Amex Credit Cards, why are you threatening me and hassling me!? Dear American Express Credit Cards,


I have had been a customer of yours and I have been mistreated as a customer. In fact, mistreated is the wrong word to express my feelingsto the treatment that you have given me. I feel you guys havehumiliated me.


Let me give you the instances, as per my memory(and you can look into my customer call records to get the right datapoints!) so that American Express understands my feelings. Sometime in Dec 07 - Jan 2008, I have charged American Express (Amex) Greencard to pay up at ask.com. it was to the tune of a little above 1 lakh.if things went as I have planned, I would have charged the card about alac every month and paid up the dues, with out having any monthly roll over credit.


I was to pay up the monthly bill, but for acall from Amex pune office. A lady called me saying that she would liketo settle the amount that is due in the card, with an offer of about 90Kand have the card canceled. The way I saw it is that Amex thinks that Iam not worth while a customer and tells me that in as much euphemism asif I am not a credit worthy for Amex.


When I canceled my Amexcard with ask.com, I was penalized for it by not given me theattractive negotiated prices for the transaction. On top of it, I hadto go through convincing my other partners about it. A very verypainful time. A very clear business loss.


But there is moresurprises to come from American express. I get a call after a week, from the same lady who called me before, and she said that there is amistake from American express side to have identified me as less creditworthy customer, and conveys me that I should continue to be anAmerican Express customer. After all what I went through, I wascompletely angry at it, and I told her that I am ready to pay up thedues only if there is an apology letter from American express, with aclear statement of mistreating me as a customer.


Since then Ihave followed up with the American Express Credit Card Customer centermore than five times in the succeeding weeks to have this settled ifthere is an apology letter from them.


Each time I have spoken toa different American express Credit card customer care person. And eachtime I have to tell the entire story, as the the American expressCustomer Care personal are not trained to look at the customer callrecords, and discern the back ground.


And this continued for about 7 to 8 months.


And as I have been asking for the apology letter, American Express Credit Card personnel could not come to a settlement with me.


Thenone afternoon, one more surprise from American Express Credit Card wasin store. An American Express employee was at my door, in my absence, and speaking very rudely to my family asking for the payment. That tooin my absence. He was so rude, my wife was hassled till date.


Theni had to call the American Express Credit Card Customer Care to tellthem no to send anybody to my house, as this is not a case where I donot want to settle the amount.


The American Express Credit Card Customer Care agent promised me that there won't be any such incidence in future.


Phew! What a frustrating time being an American Express Credit Card Customer.


Aftera lull, there is one more call from some one from the American ExpressFort Office, telling me that if I do not pay, my name would be blacklisted and I would not get any more services from any of the financialservices companies. In fact, it was a threatening call telling me thatAmerican Express will ruin my credit worthiness for any financialservices.


I told them to do what they can do, as I am clear I wanted an apology letter to settle it.


thenafter a lull again, on Dec 11 2008, I have one more American Expressemployee called Samir, who has a mobile number 0 9XXXX 26577, lands upat my home and creates a scene at my house, again in my absence. Samirgoes about threatening my wife and shouting obscenities to have otherresidents gather around and create a scene. Samir has no idea of whatmy stance on this payment due is. Samir goes about talking to his boss, on the speaker phone, who have behaved no less on the speaker phone andthere is an unpleasant scene created at my door. My family goes throughanother trauma. Therefore, I call American Express Credit Card Customercare and speak to Santhosh, an American Express customer careexecutive, to whom I have explained the situation and he said creatinga scene at home is unnecessary and apologized for the same.


ThenI have connected with you, as you are employed by American ExpressCredit Card, and asked you to wait for me to revert on what I cansettle, in the absence that there is no apology letter from AmericanExpress Credit Card.


As I am taking some time to revert to you, it is unfortunate that you are getting into threatening and pressure tactics.


You have told Samir to keep calling me and hassle me. I have a record of this call.


Next since yesterday, I have been getting calls from your office, with the number 022 40884501, calling me every five minutes to settle the amount. A lady called Varsha, who is working with American expressbank, and she has been instructed by you to call me all through the dayand harass me.Today, I have got 20 calls already and I am not approvingthis.


I want you to stop this non-sense, and yes, I will bereverting back to you in another email, what is that amount that I willbe paying to settle this dues from American Express Card, with out anapology letter from you..


Stop hasting me. Stop threatening me. And let's look for a solution.
