Amex is excellent for big purchases. The reason why the card is not widely accepted is because Amex charges money for retailers and also, the retailers are kept very strict under Amex. You can return any item purchased on Amex and they credit the money immediately. I really love this feature. The card for some might be expensive because they have yearly membership fee but for people who have a lot of big purchases, go for it! I always buy expensive electronics etc. on my Amex so that if I have any problems, I can return it easily.
