This review takes off from where the one on gadgetsguru had stopped. Since the guru messed up the order and fooled around, I had to look for an alternative.
While surfing the web for online suppliers, I came across an offer for the same item(SanDisk Cruzer Blade USB Flash Drive 16Gb) from Amazon. After going through some of the reviews here, I was a bit apprehensive about them. Yet I decided to give it a try.
Late evening on 31 October, I placed the order - ref. 402-9396760-6393123 - with Amazon. The order acknowledgement came in soon, with a delivery advice of 4 to 7 working days. This meant I could expect to receive the item on or before 8 Nov.
The next morning I got an intimation from them. The item had been dispatched through FedEx. Good start! A day later I checked up the status using the tracking number. It was on its way.
On 4th November, it was delivered to me, very much in line with the promised lead time.
Whenever I read reviews on online suppliers, I feel shaky. The names might be big, but it is the service that counted. There is no perfect person or system or establishment in this world. Some are more consistent than the others. We cannot expect Virat Kohli to crack a fifty or a hundred in every ODI in which he bats. But we agree he is a superb batsman because his overall performance has been above average.
The first positive experience with Amazon encouraged me to place a second order - ref. 403-8931115-7378759 - with them on Nov 7th. This time it was a bigger order, for a Dell Inspiron N5010 laptop keyboard and three books. The order was promptly accepted. I was advised of split deliveries - the keyboard and two books in one lot and the balance of one book in another. The ETA given to me was 21st November. A day later, the ETA was improved to 17th November.
I least expected to receive the bigger of the two lots on November 10th. All items were in excellent condition. I worked on the keyboard first by removing the old damaged one on my laptop and fixing the brand new one. The result was very satisfying.
Today(11 Nov) the second and final package was delivered to me.The way Amazon has handled these orders and the manner in which they have updated me on the progress have been pretty good and I hope they strive to keep all their customers happy and contended in a similar fashion.
