I placed an order with Amazon worth Rs. 4700 and the transaction went through fine and I got charged for the same on my credit card.  However, for some reason amazon website reset the status saying payment was failed.  So, I reattempted the transaction and it went through again and I got charged for that amount again.  I was not very worried as I frequently shop online and have never faced such an issue and even if charged twice, the amount comes back immediately to my account on contacting the customer care.


HOWEVER, to my horror, when I spoke to amazon, they asked me to send a screenshot of the bank statement without which they cannot proceed with anything.  They had my details, my order number, exact amount, but anyway. so I contacted my bank and they said that one transaction went through fine but the other one for some reason went through ICICI but the merchant could not receive the payment and hence the transaction was in blocked state and that I can contact the merchant to unblock that transaction.  I was given 2 reference numbers for those transactions, one for the successful transaction and one for the failed but blocked one.  Now, I contacted amazon again on friday with the reference numbers of transaction and asked them to release the blocked payment but they refused to do so without a bank statement showing the same.  My bank says that as the transaction failed but is blocked, it will not appear on my statement.  So, I asked the representative to arrange a call back on my mobile number and he promised to do so the next morning(it was evening when we spoke).


It has been 2 days but I have not heard back from Amazon.  Absolutely stupid service.  You guys are far from beating Flipkart, ever!
