Amala Chettinad Mess is situated at AP. Plot, G-Block, No. 785, Anna Nagar, Chennai. This place will be difficult to find as it is not on the main road. Take the road opposite to Parvathi Bhavan from 18th main road and take first right and Viola! you are there.
There is no fancy decor or valet parking in this place. Air-conditioned dinning area is in the first and Non A/C dinning at the ground floor. This place will be more suitable for bachelors than family, however I see more families regularly now. Then again there is always take-away and its well worth the effort. There will be no big ques here and you hardly have to wait for your table.
Food here is very good and rightly priced. Firstly you will not feel heavy after having your fill, for I'm definite, they don't use any fillers for cooking. Coupled with good service, and good portion size, I'm certain that you will have a good meal here.
Don't mix this place with Andhra Mess for they serve genuine Tamilnad cusine which is little less spicy and is a welcome change. There will be no Dal(papuu) or ghee here. They serve Fish, Mutton, chicken kurmas, sambar, rasam, buttermilk, onion raitha and curd. A full meal(eat as much as you can!) will cost you 50 rupees and extras won't cost you much.
This place will be a boon for people from other states who stay or work in and around Anna Nagar, for it is much cheaper and good VFM. Hope you like the place as well.
