I discovered a lovely place in Coimbatore. It’s called Aloft. We were looking for a banquet hall for a wedding reception and most of the places we found either had a reputation for poor food/service or exorbitantly priced. Some were both.
Roaming through the www, I chanced upon Aloft.
Aloft is a part of Starwood Hotels. If you are landing at the Coimbatore Airport, you need to drive in the direction of Coimbatore city. In a few minutes you’ll find the road rising into a railway over bridge. At over bridge you take a left to hit Kamaraj Road and from that point it’s about 1 or 2 kms to Aloft. On the left side of the road. If you’re in the city you need to take the road to the airport (the Avinashi Road). You go past PSG College of Technoloy, GRG School and then you come to the over bridge I spoke of. You cannot take a right turn here. You need go further on and take a U turn where the divider ends and reach the aforementioned Kamaraj Road. You can also reach Aloft from the city via the Trichy Road.
At the hotel we were greeted by Mr. Madhusoodhanan, the F& B Manager who took us around the hotel. The rustic (Spanish, I think) décor of the restaurant was particularly appealing. The ambience was relaxed and soothing. The Banquet Hall was fine for our purpose. The gracious and competent Mr. Madhusoodhanan offered valuable suggestions on the menu. The programme and the food were decided upon. I believe we got a reasonable deal.
The function went off like a charm. The food was delicious, the service impeccable.
As we did not stay at Aloft, I have no idea about the rooms or room service. But if our experience at the banquet is anything to go by, they should be excellent.
