I wonder why women love to shop, it can be the most trying task :( I entered Food Bazaar on a rainy afternoon and was glad to find a nearly empty Food Bazaar. At last saved from the hassle of standing in long queue for billing. After buying some much needed provisions I went to pick up my most favourite snack. I can never resist Biscuits( I carried them everywhere and even now most of the time they are with me when I travel) even at this age. Those who know me well will vouch that I can survive alone on Chaats and Biscuits.

Going through all the available biscuits I always pondered why the shapes of the biscuits/crackers are always geometrical, a perfect symmetry even an artist would envy. I was tired of eating all those boring biscuits, I was searching the shelves for something new and lo as if someone fulfilled my wish. I saw an attractive orange, yellow and white packet with splashes of green beckoning me, I hurried my steps and saw the name on the packet, Aliva. The very name infused a breath of life into me, I felt alive, my eager hands reached the packet and I was holding Aliva Tasty Crackers in my hand.

The crackers come in a beautiful shape. Three S curves in lieu of the boring straight lines join to form a triangle. At last I see a different shape even if it was a sort of triangle. Apart from the shape it is a healthy snack when compared to others but I dislike it having 15g of fat for 60g of crackers.

I bought a 60g pack for a special price of Rs 12 as an introductory offer. The original price is slated to be Rs 14 which can be considered quite reasonable. I had the Classic salted (oh so boring na), Tomato and Roasted spices(I hate those red veggies), Mint flavor with herbs and Special Pindi Masala to choose from. Obviously as I love food which has lots of spices and chillies I opted for this variant. I wonder why manufactures resist to introduce new flavours and hopelessly they try to stick to the tried and trusted flavours ..hummph

Did I love it? Oh God ! these crackers were heavenly, the myriad of tastes tantalizing my tongue. It was just melting in my mouth, the different tastes finally merging into one. It tastes sweet, salty and a bit sour, every bite has a different taste. I couldn’t resist myself after eating just one, the Lays Ad fits for this too. Last week I was unwell and anything that I ate was tasting like mud, ughh! The packet of Aliva came to my rescue and after days I tasted something nice again, wish I had remembered the packet earlier. One must eat it slowly, take a bite savour the taste of and let it melt on your tongue. Think of what you can do with it, let loose your imagination :P

It can be served at tea to sudden guests when you don’t have time to prepare snacks at home. They can be eaten at anytime, even make it a mid-night snack or they can come handy if you have the dangerous habit of munching while watching the idiot box or reading.

Just as I said before too, it is a healthy snack since it is baked, it has the following Ingredients:

Wheat flour, Vegetable oil, Sugar , Milk Solids, Spices( Chilli powder, Ajwain, Pepper, Fenugreek, Garlic & Onion powder, Cumin, Clove, Capsicum, Cinamom, Ginger & Coriander Powder), Leavening agents, Salt, Emulsifiers & Stabilisers, Wheat Fibers and Dough Conditioner. It also has necessary enzymes and Acidity Regulators.

It’s Nutritional Information per 30g of product:

Carbohydrates 18.5g

Protein 2.6 g

Sugars 3.7 g

Fat 7.5 g

Saturated fatty acids 2.2 g

Mono unsaturated fatty acids 2.9 g

It has high calorie and fat content so weight watchers beware. As it has zero cholesterol it is good for those who have to watch their Cholesterol intake. They contain dietary fibers hence they are easier to digest as well as filling so that hunger pangs are put to rest for a couple of hours.

I have yet to an advertisement of this product in media or maybe I must have missed it. If properly advertised, this product may surpass the sales of Kurkure. As it is, Kurkure is attracting lot of negative publicity, Frito-Lay has made a smart move by introducing this new product. Yes, this product is manufactured by Frito-Lay Division of Pepsico India Holdings Private Limited. By keeping tabs on market pulse, Frito-Lay can come up with more Promotional schemes. Right now it is offered at a discount of two rupees, thereby retailing it at Rs 12. They can combine it with other products and give a good offer to the consumer. Another Promotional scheme that they can come up is offer a smaller pack of different flavour free with a 60g pack.

It has a shelf life of six months but it is always advisable to consume within one month of manufacturing date. A self made rule is I never buy any eatables that were manufactured more than a month before.

So what are you waiting for, go and grab a packet of Aliva, I don’t wanna share my pack with anyone.
